Job Summary
Reviews applications, inspections, and endorsement requests to determine the eligibility of the property or request for coverage within the company guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews exterior inspection reports, new business submissions, risk alerts as well as follow-up tasks on accounts needing additional underwriting review/action
- Reviews requests for underwriter cancellation/nonrenewal action, reinstatement requests, and endorsements for acceptability
- Build long-standing relationships with our agency partners
- Interprets manuals and contracts for multiple lines of business in multiple states
- Adheres to the established productivity and quality metrics established
- Other tasks and projects may be assigned
Essential Functions
- Assists internal service associates via telephone and e-mail with exception requests beyond their authority level
- Ability to think critically, assess risk, and make informed decisions
- Assists agents via telephone and e-mail with new business exception requests
- Provides feedback on submissions and documentation needed to make application or endorsement acceptable to the company
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of agency or underwriting or customer service experience in property and casualty insurance
- Thorough knowledge of the underwriting process and the analytics involved
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Advanced computer skills and strong systems knowledge
- College degree is preferred but not required

Position Summary
The SIU Claims Examiner is responsible for handling a caseload of residential property claims involving potentially fraudulent or suspicious losses. High performers for this position are intuitive, analytical, detail-orientated, and generally possess good business acumen and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Florida property and casualty insurance and will have experience specific to investigating fraud.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze documents, records, and other evidence
- Conduct recorded statements
- Identify suspicious or fraudulent activity
- Direct SIU vendor partners throughout investigations
- Manage 626 Requests
- Identify candidates for examination under oath and work closely with outside counsel to develop investigative strategy
- Investigates, manages and resolves claims in an unbiased and informed manner in compliance with company policies, state laws and regulatory performance standards.
- Sets and maintains adequate claim reserves based on facts of case and in accordance with company policy
- Document all relevant information in the electronic claims management system accurately and comprehensively
- Actively pursue ongoing education to stay current with statutory requirements, legal developments, and SIU trends related to residential property claims
- Occasional travel throughout the state to attend EUOs, industry meetings, and SIU related conferences
Qualifications
- Holds an active state insurance adjuster 6-20 license
- 5+ years of handling SIU claims under personal lines in Florida working directly for a carrier
- CIFI Certification preferred
- Bachelor's degree in business, Insurance, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Strong PC skills with proficiency in Word & Excel
- Attention to detail and also possess the ability to efficiently multi-task
- Self-Motivated with ability to thrive in a production focused Team Environment
- Committed to excellent customer service
- Broad knowledge of construction, estimating and estimating systems
- Advanced knowledge of Florida insurance laws and Florida good faith claims handling experience
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills; your communication style is flexible to the situation; you communicate clearly and with a purpose
